Mamavation Monday: A Push Forward

January 18, 2010 By Beth

It is Mamavation Monday time again!I am THRILLED to say I made through my two week no soda challenge (details here!) YAY ME!!! Check our my post and see if you want to do a soda challenge yourself. You might just surprise yourself! So what did I do to celebrate? Drank some water. LOL Seriously. When I started this challenge, the only thing I could think about was the soda I would have as soon as I was done with this challenge. I got to the end and didn’t even want that soda. I have decided to allow myself one soda a week. I can have it whenever I want. The last time I did this, I did really well and more often than not I saved my soda as an end of the week treat.

What else did I do last week? I started my water drinking. 80 ounces a day was my challenge. I had 2 days where I only hit 60 ounces. I laugh as I say that because only 60 ounces of water is insane for me. I am not a big water drinker but I am doing really good. I know myself and I can chug water from a bottle. If water is sitting in a cup, it will sit there all day. So I am using my favorite stainless steel water bottle and drinking my water down. I plan to keep this up this week. So that was my secondary challenge last week. My primary challenge was to get active and that didn’t happen as I planned. I let life get in the way and didn’t make the time. I admit it. My copy of the 30 day shred did arrive and I watched the first part. My husband and I will start that next week (unless we start early). He still has two 13.5 hour days this week so we are trying to get past that but we may start early if we can.

My challenge this week: I am going give myself the same challenge to dust off my old and squeaky elliptical and maybe my balance ball this week. I would like to workout 3-5 times this week. Plus I want to keep up my water drinking and watching what I eat.

Results so far: I am down 2.5 lbs since last Monday. (Weigh ins for the work challenge are Mondays so I will weigh in then.) That 1.52%! Another big YAY ME!

Thanks to everyone for their support so far. More coming from me as I work towards this goal!

Remember to check out Mamavation on MomTV tonight. There will be giveaways. Details are here.

2.5 lbs! That's awesome! Kicking soda is such a great step. It takes some doing, but once it's done, it's not hard to stay away from! Good job!

Thanks for the comments so far. I owe comments this week but know it isn't happening this week. I am ok with that and hope everyone understands!

For the first time … ever? … we ate out and I had water with my dinner. Budget friendly AND healthy! I was very proud of myself.

Great job on the weight loss and the water drinking! And good job with the willpower to have water when you ate out. I really try to do this, but it really isn't easy. Good Luck this week!

Woot! Great job! I love using a balance ball in my workouts – it's so…fun! But the shred is a whole different beast. Me and Jillian do not click. lol. I try my best to do it, though! Looking forward to hearing more great results next week!

We're having a challenge at work too! We will donate the equivalent amount of food that we lose in pounds. ie: lose 3lbs, donate 3 lbs. Keep up the good work!

I have done the no soda thing for a year once! I definitely felt better and I used to drink real soda, not that diet stuff….now I only drink diet. Well now, I am not drinking any soda for 6 weeks! Let's see how that works! Thanks for sharing your stories.

Congrats on your progress. I need to get motivated and use the bowflex that I've owned for 2 years.
