Mamavation Monday: Redecorating

January 25, 2010 By Beth 12 Comments

It is Mamavation Monday time again!I have had more comments on the Two Week No Soda Challenge so I want to leave that reference you can details here! I finished my challenge and have decided to set a one soda a week limit for myself. Last Friday, I decided to have my soda. Well I had half a soda since my husband and I split one. I drank it and told him “That didn’t nearly as good as I remember it tasting.” I am sure I will still have a few sodas but that definitely showed me I don’t need them!=)What else did I do last week? I kept up my water drinking. I hit 60 ounces more days than I hit the 80 ounces but I am working on it. I didn’t exercise at all. I failed that self challenge. So I came up with a new plan!My challenge this week: I am going give myself the same challenge to dust off my old and squeaky elliptical. I would like to workout 3-5 times this week. I am proud say I did my first 20 minute session yesterday afternoon! Plus I want to keep up my water drinking and watching what I eat.
OK, I hear you saying, “you have said this the past two week and you haven’t done a darn thing. What makes this week different?”
What is different? Go back to the title of this post … Redecorating. What did I redecorate? While it isn’t redecorating for style, it is redecorating for function.
Here is our bedroom before:

Here is our bedroom now:

Now I don’t love having my huge elliptical in the bedroom but I know I will use it when it sitting there staring at me. Squeaky and I will bond if it stares at me. I need to be stared down at to get moving so this is what I need right now. I figure once I get in the groove, it can go back to the basement. Maybe one of these days I can even get a newer, smaller model. A new, non-squeaky elliptical isn’t in the budget so Squeaky will make due! The story behind this elliptical is that this is what I bought myself when my husband deployed to Iraq almost seven years ago. It was a huge splurge but got me into great shape by sitting in the middle of my tiny apartment living room staring at me every day. That is how I know the staring at me part works! So with this the stare down challenge begins!

Results so far: I am down 1.5 lbs since last Monday. (Weigh ins for the work challenge are Mondays so I will weigh in then.) Considering my lack of added activity, I am pleased. Slow and steady is good is the message I keep telling myself!

Thanks to everyone for their support so far. More coming from me as I work towards this goal!

I also want to add a congratulations to the two new Mamavation Moms: Katie (@FrugalFemina) and Lisa (@LisaSamples). Be sure to follow them on Twitter during their Mamavation campaign!

We believe in you! I would rather do the elliptical than the treadmill. Small steps each day. Once you get into the working out your body will start thanking you..You're doing great!

Your elliptical in your bedroom will definitely be a motivator. Good luck with it this week. Awesome job with the pop. I finally did a week without it. I hope I can stick with it. Good luck this week.

You can do it! You need to find a picture of somebody like Mr. T looking all tough and pointing his finger at you–and tape it to your elliptical…lolol

Great job on the water drinking this week. 60 oz is great! The exercise part is hard for me too – trying to find the time.
