Mamavation Monday: Step it UP!

January 11, 2010 By Beth

It is Mamavation Monday time again! I say Step it UP as in taking it up a notch! Trust me, no stepper here. Steppers and I do not get along. Enough said about that now … more later on that I am sure!

I am THRILLED to say I made it one week in the two week no soda challenge (details here!) You can still join me if you want. There were lots of times I wanted that soda but I didn’t give in.

What else did I do last week? I really started to watch what I eat. That being said, I did give into a few pieces of chocolate, a cookie, and a little serving of ice cream. Why did I give in? I gave in because a little taste was enough for me. I am looking to make a lifestyle change and not be on a diet. No diet here! I know I won’t go the rest of my life without eating chocolate, cookies, ice cream, or even that piece of yummy birthday cake. Since I know that is case, I need to learn to be happy with just a piece of whatever it is. This goal is a lot more reasonable for me. Have you thought about it that way?

I also excited to ask that I was asked to be part of the Mamavation Sistahood! I of course accepted as even if I am not in the final 4 or the final 2, I will still be working towards my lifestyle change!

In other news, I joined the office challenge. I figure I am doing this already, why not? PLUS I have the added Mamavation support! I will keep you updated on how that is going as we go along. It starts today and ends May 28th! Weigh in for that challenge is today.

I didn’t start exercising last week. I admit it. I did order the 30 day shred so I hope that comes this week.

My challenge this week: To dust off my old and squeaky elliptical and maybe my balance ball this week. This week is the week where I start to get active again! As a secondary goal, I will start my water drinking challenge before my no soda challenge ends. I figure this overlap is perfect to get me going. The goal will be 80 ounces of water a day. (As a note, I got in my 80 ounces yesterday and on my way today!)

In submitting myself as a candidate to be one of the Mamavation Moms, I am still asking for your help and support! As my first request, Please keep tweeting for me! Head over to twitter and send this tweet: (You can tweet this as much as are willing to tweet!)

Hey @bookieboo! I want @simplybudgeted to be the next #Mamavation Mom. She has my support!

Thanks to everyone for their support so far. More coming from me as I work towards this goal!

Sounds like you are doing a great job! My biggest problem is having just a piece. I always want 2 or more pieces! Since joining mamavation I have not eaten more than a piece though! Congrats!

So proud of you!! Yes, it's a lifestyle change, a permanent better way of eating and living, not a temporary drill in deprivation. I love your attitude about food. keep it up!

That is such a great point, we don't want to diet forever, we want to change our habits! I too am not eating perfectly. Great job on the no soda! (I'm on day 2).
