Elf on the Shelf: Welcome Back Whatever-Your-Name-Is

December 2, 2013 By Beth 4 Comments

YAY for the happiest … most stressful part of our holiday season. Now that my sister is expecting her first kid, I can pay her back with an The Elf on the Shelf one day soon. The last two years (2011 and 2012), I have featured daily pictures of our Elf on the Shelf. It is time again to bring out the Elf on the Shelf or as I like to call it … the best way to show how you fail as a parent. Don’t expect insane pictures here. Our Elf doesn’t make messes (seriously, I would have to clean them up and I clean up enough messes with four … errr, three kids, a husband, and three pets!!) The one over the top elf day is generally Sophie’s birthday. So watch for that December 11th … hopefully I am not dead from party planning and can do something special for her.

So back to our Elf on the Shelf, Brian reminded me about the Elf a few weeks ago. I forgot about it. It must be like labor and you forget about it until it is too late and you just have to deal with again. You know what I am talking about. It took me a few minutes to finally admit, I had no idea what the elf’s name was. Yeah, being the parent of the year, I forgot the darn Elf’s name. You would think that I hadn’t done almost 60 posts with his name it. Dear gosh. No wonder my Girl Scouts have to wear name tags all year!

We just got back in town last night so we skipped a night of the Elf! YAY for tiny things like skipping a day!! Of course, we also forgot to put the elf out last night. Brian had to do the rush put Kingston out while the kids ate breakfast move. Seriously?! We can’t even succeed on the FIRST DAY. (Oh and Brian remembered our dear Elf’s name. How he remembered that and doesn’t know where he left his shoes is beyond me though!!)

Well here Kingston is resting on the mantel for Day 1! Christmas decorations aren’t up here yet but I did pick up my 99 cent poinsettias from Lowe’s. Priorities are poinsettias not the Elf on the Shelf apparently. shhh!

Welcome back, Elf on the Shelf whatever-your-name-is!

Ready to follow along with my parenting fail Christmas tradition? Watch for the Kingston 2013 tag on posts!
Where is your Elf on the Shelf? Are you awesome at this or do you completely suck at this Elf on the Shelf game like I do? Leave me a comment and let me know!

We have a different kind of elf, but it’s our first year having him and it’s so fun, lol
And Kingston is a very cool elf name (we didn’t name ours, shhhh)
