Tiny Bites

July 20, 2010 By Beth

I recently had the chance to review a set of Tiny Bites thanks to Tiny Bites.

Details …

Some details from their Product Information Page …
Why can’t I just use a knife or a regular pair of scissors?

There’s nothing wrong with a good old-fashioned knife but have you ever tried to cut up a grape for an older infant with a knife? Or penne pasta? It’s pretty darn annoying. And don’t get us started on going out for pizza and getting stuck with a plastic knife. Now that’s just painful. As for ordinary scissors, we used to use cute, colorful ones from Ikea (before we invented Tiny Bites Food Shears) but we realized the dull blades left a metallic after taste on our son’s food. And you don’t know if office scissors contain lead or BPA because most don’t advertise that. Our blades are stainless-steel cutlery grade (same as a knife) and BPA-free and lead-free. You could also use a regular pair of kitchen scissors but they are much larger to hold than ours and too cumbersome and awkward to travel with. We invented Tiny Bites Food Shears for these specific reasons. We couldn’t find another solution. Plus, ours comes with a protective blade cover making it child-proof and pocket-friendly.

What are the measurements of the Food Shears?

Each Food Shear is 5 1/2″ inches in diameter. The cutlery-grade stainless steel blades are 2 1/2″ inches long.
My thoughts …
Tiny Bites are great. I feed Little Dude while my husband tends to manage the other two kids. My husband in the past has had the task of cutting up tiny pieces for whoever the little one is at that time. It takes a lot of time to do that! Now I just get my serving and set these at my place setting. I cut up little bites for Little Dude as he eats them. I love to use them with pieces of meat and veggies and those tend to be hard to cute really small. The fact you get two means you can drop one in your diaper bag and use it while you are out and about!

NOTE: I was sent a set of Tiny Bites in support this review. No other compensation was received. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I have a 3 yr old and a 2 yr old and by the time I am cutting their food (fighting their food) the rest of the family is almost done with their meals. I, of course, have not even started! I'd love to have the ease of cutting scissors.

Living in a college dorm room without a kitchen, scissors are a necessity and I'd love to try these since they are smaller and take less room to store!
