Operation Christmas Child National Collection Week

November 20, 2013 By Beth 5 Comments

We are half way through National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child. Brian and I had the honor to organize the packing party at our church this year. We started with a potluck dinner that brought together about 75 of our church members (mostly associated with the children’s ministry!) We shared the Uncle Si video on how to pack a shoe box. Have you seen it? If not, you are missing out so here it is …

We then explained how we set-up the tables in the sanctuary with all of the shoe box donations. Here is what we saw as the children and families started walking through to fill up more shoe boxes (most of them came with already packed shoe boxes!)

Then came the task of getting the shoe boxes to the drop off center near us. This was a huge task that Brian took on to do this week while the kids were in school. The van was stuffed with 172 shoe boxes!

Matthew helped unload at the drop off center. See him?

Here is the shirt design from this year that the volunteers were wearing!

So many volunteers were hard at work getting the shoe boxes together to be shipped out of our local area!

Are you participating in Operation Christmas Child National Collection week? We are excited to see where the boxes go that the kids packed up before the packing party at the church. We paid online so we could see where in the world they went!

Tell us how you participate in Operation Christmas Child. We love to  hear new ideas … especially, as we start to think about how to add to our church’s donation efforts next year!

We haven’t done Operation Christmas Child…we do Toys for Tots. I like the idea of getting the kids involved.

Love the headbands! So colorful! Looks like you had a lot of fun at the party! We love Operation Christmas Child because it’s about more than the gifts. I know for me, without Jesus Christ and His constant care, I would be … well, I can’t even begin to think how awful it would be. What a gift to pass along the Greatest Gift – His love and message. <3 And have fun while we are doing it! 🙂

I am just loving all the pics of the packing parties. I think we will have to plan one next year. We have done it in the past when we worked with the youth, but I have never done it with MOPS before because it was always just having the families pack it, but I think some of the newer moms still didn’t get the idea of what it was

I think this is amazing what you are doing. You guys all wokred great together and I love that the kids were involved. We haven’t done this before. We usually sponsor a couple of families through my daughters school for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Giving back is one of the things that is keeping me sane this season. It was nice to read about your acts too.
