A Campfire with Duraflame Campfire Roasting Logs

August 17, 2012 By Brian 5 Comments

Maybe you have caught that we recently went camping at Jellystone Park Yogi Bear’s Natural Bridge, Virginia location. Well camping in a cabin because three kids 5 and under in a tent sounded just crazy. We were really excited that our little cabin at had a campfire ring outside it. We brought our Duraflame Campfire Roasting Logs and the S’mores kit we were sent (plus extra marshmallows because the kids are marshmallows addicts!)

Brian got to work on the fire while I helped the kids put marshmallows on the sticks that were also part of the kit! If you remember my mention in the brownie recipe post that I am not generally allowed around knives, I am also generally not allowed to start a fire. Now there has been no history of fire damage to myself or anyone else but I think Brian is basing that off my track record in other areas. So I was replaced with a three year old little boy who helped him get a fire started. I am still wondering about the thinking around that decision.

With a fire going and our marshmallows ready, we were all ready to start working on our s’mores when Yogi Bear himself crashed our campfire site! He even tried to steal our plate of graham crackers and Hershey’s chocolate bars! Bad, Yogi Bear! The kids are still a little unsure of characters, especially Matthew, but they were excited to have him come by our campfire and kept asking if he was coming back that night!

Once we had roasted marshmallows, it was time to build a perfect campfire s’more! Ta-da!

We were really pleased with how easy the Duraflame Campfire Roasting Logs worked for us on this trip. The end of the summer and fall is when we will have a couple of campfires in our backyard so we will use up the rest of these soon I am sure.

We hope you are having a great summer and are ready for a campfire at your house too! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about campfire and Yogi Bear’s visit to it!
