OnePlanetglasses.com

Last week, I had my eye exam. I should say yearly eye exam but I admit it only happen about once every two years. I gave in and scheduled this exam because my right eye has been blurry lately. Thankfully my eye ball (that is just so weird to say!) is in perfect health. Bad news is they had no reason for my blurry eye that I can still see out of so they are monitoring it right now. Eye health is so important. Did you know that some other health conditions can even impact your vision? An eye exam is so painless and yet so many of miss it because of our budgets. We need to remember to keep our health at the top of our budget.

After my eye exam, I talked to one of my coworkers about buying eyeglasses online. He was telling me how expensive his glasses are and how he only gets them every couple of years due to the cost. He sits at a desk on a computer all day and orders other stuff online but never thought about ordering his eyeglasses online. I explained to him it was cheaper for us to use our medical insurance for the eye exam coverage and then just pay for glasses online than to get the vision coverage my employer offers. He admitted that he had never done that math. He asked about the quality of cheap eyeglasses and I showed him mine that I bought online. I then told him about the glasses I had ordered for Brian earlier this year. I used an online deal to order Brian two pairs of glasses for about half the price of one pair at the eye doctor’s office! We use deals like this to stay on our budget and keep our vision the best it can be!

At Oneplanetglasses.com you can get a complete eyeglasses with prescription lenses starting at $27! You won’t see  well know brand names but their lenses are made in the exact same labs as other well known brands!  An added bonus to ordering online through this site is that a portion of each sale is donated to Unite for Sight to help get needy people prescription eyeglasses.

We really excited to giveaway a $100 coupon code which, in most cases, should cover the cost of a complete pair of prescription eyeglasses!

Plus we have a 15% coupon code that is BUDGET15.

Tips for Using Coupon Codes

Coupon codes seem to be a hot topic these days. There is good reason too … they are all over the place. I remember I used to feel lucky if I had a coupon code when shopping online but now there are so many resources for  coupon codes that isn’t the case. It can be easy to be lost in the web of coupon codes so here are some of my favorite tips!
1. Always look for a coupon code. If you see a promotional code or coupon code box when you get to checkout on a website, STOP! Open another browser tab and do a search for a coupon code you can use. Just take a couple of minutes to look. You might save money, you might not.
2. Watch for conditions on coupon code. The coupon codes I hate the most are ones that say “Free Shipping for orders over $49″ or something like that. I am rarely spending that much on online order so these coupon codes aren’t worth using for me. My favorite coupon codes are the Free Shipping ones and the save a percentage off everything at the site!
3. Check to see if you can apply more than one coupon code. Some sites will let you use more than one coupon code such as a Free Shipping coupon code and a percentage off coupon code. Around the holidays I have also seen coupon codes for a free gift with purchase that can be combined with coupon codes. At the same time, be careful when you try this! Check your order total before you hit submit because I have had sites default to the lesser value coupon code if they don’t take two coupons.
4. Some coupon codes are one time use only. These coupon codes are more like gift certificates and can’t be shared. You will sometimes see people sharing them on coupon code sites because they don’t always say they are one time use. There is no set standard to tell if a coupon code is one time use or not.  Don’t despair, you might also need to try more than one coupon code to find one that works. Some of the shared coupon codes have already expired but are still listed so keep trying!
5. Share! If you have a coupon code, share it as others would probably love to use it too. Many sites allow users to share coupon codes … probably the ones you are visiting looking for coupon codes! So pass along the savings and hopefully next time you find another coupon code to use too!

California Wine Club–Month 3

Details …

Since 1990, club owners Bruce and Pam Boring have traveled California’s wine country searching for limited-production wines from small, family-owned wineries dedicated to the art of making fine wine. Whether for yourself or a gift, CWC membership is an adventure in wine tasting that will not be experienced anywhere else.

They journey not only to Napa and Sonoma, but to less-explored wine regions like Santa Barbara, Monterey, the Sierra Foothills and beyond.

Membership costs nothing, you can cancel anytime, and every wine is 100% guaranteed.

More than three-quarters of California’s 2,100+ wineries are small, boutique, mom-and-pop operations whose wines never travel beyond their local markets and private customer lists. Come discover them with us!

Our Thoughts …

We love when our wine shows up.  Who knew that we would look forward to getting alcohol in the mail so much?  Once again, the folks at California Wine Club picked out a couple of beauties for us.  We received two award-winning estate wines from Tulip Hill winery.

The Red was a lovely Cabepulciano (yeah, I didn’t have a clue, either).  Basically, it’s a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Montepulciano grapes (Italian grapes grown in California soil).  It has those yummy tart-sweet tastes of berries in the summer with that little tiny depth of chocolate.  I’m not much for sipping red wines (I prefer them with a meal), but this was pretty enjoyable to just sit down with.

The White was a Reserve Chardonnay.  It has that bright crispness of any good Chardonnay with a hint of lemon and just a touch of flavor from the oak barrel that it aged in.  It would pair very well with some cheese and fruit platters over the Christmas season.  Too bad it’s no longer with us.  Maybe next time.

California Wine Club is excellent as a last minute gift idea for that finicky friend or loved one.  You know…the one that buys what they want whenever they want even during the month of December, leaving no gift ideas for anyone?  (Can you tell how annoyed that has me?)  Anyway, this gift doesn’t commit them to just one thing.  They get a variety of wines that, in many cases, they simply could not buy themselves unless they were actually at that particular winery.  Really, you are giving the gift of exclusivity.  Your friend or loved one will receive fantastic wines that they could never find in the stores!

To top it all off, CWC once again has a special offer for our readers … Get a 10% discount off of wine club memberships and gifts using the promo code, simplebudget. If you try out The California Wine Club, use the same promo code and not only will they take off 10% off your first month, but they will also send an extra bottle of wine in your first month shipment as a special joining offer for being one of our readers. There is no obligation to stay past the first month!

Once again, we are THRILLED to be able to offer one of readers a one month subscription to California Wine Club! Please note the state that does not allow wine to be mailed!!! If you live in that state, we are sorry to say you can’t enter this giveaway so please go enter another live giveaway we have!

Our Thoughts …

So having wines delivered is a really great gift. I could really get used to getting the mail report of “a box of wine showed up today”. ahhh. THAT is a good mail day there! So this month we received two wines we probably would have never tried Castoro Cellars 2010 Paso Robles and Castoro Cellars 2010 Blind Faith Pinot Noir. I broke open the Paso Robles bottle first. It is a white wine but has a nice dryness to it (I am not a big dry wine fan but I am working on it!!) Now the Pinot Noir … I need to check this month’s menu and find a nice pairing for this.

Having wine you didn’t have to fuss over selecting show up at your door is a great experience. And it would get you added to our Christmas card list really fast (if you aren’t there already!) The wines came boxed nicely in a way that would not break on the way here which is added assurance when you order wine as a gift to be shipping. We were sent a Perry Creek Winery ‘Zinman’ Zinfandel 2008 and a Perry Creek Winery El Dorado Chardonnay 2009. The Perry Creek Winery ‘Zinman’ Zinfandel was used in Brian’s pot roast cooking this past Sunday. Don’t worry, we didn’t waste the rest of the bottle of wine … we polished it off that night with dinner.  The flavor the ‘Zinmand’ added the roast was amazing. We are still using the roast for leftovers this week so we get to keep enjoying it over and over and over! We haven’t had a chance to try to Chardonnay but with as busy as our schedule this week, it might be opened sooner rather than later!

He has a few exercises that he tries to do!

The leader for the exercises is a goofy guy and if you watch with you kids you will wonder how he managed to do all of that in a suit with a hat and how crazy he is in real life. But what really matters is the kids love it and are moving and exercising!
