The three DaVinci Beads that are the birthstones for our kids. Grace is my August, Peridot, baby! Sophie is my December, Zircon, baby! Matthew is  my July, Ruby, baby! I love the CZ Wheel Birthstone style beads so I have now have a green, blue, and red DaVinci Bead on my DaVinci Toggle Bracelet!  The kids love to look at my bracelet and tell me which bead is theirs. I love how many comments I have gotten on this bracelet since I have started wearing it! What beads are your favorite?

We are excited to participate in the Valentine gift basket giveaway with Holiday Gifts & Gift Baskets!

Sometimes it is hard to find one gift to someone for a holiday. Gift baskets are a great idea to give a meaningful gift that represents the interests of the special person in your life. Maybe they are striving to be healthy this year and a gift basket full of fruit would be a bright spot in their day!

Maybe life is all about the kids and your house is constantly a zoo. Wait, that is our house. Is that your house too?!

Maybe they love sweet treats and chocolate is always the way to their heart? (This would honestly work for just about any woman out there!)

WannaHavaCookie Whoopie Pies

We had the opportunity to meet Marrisa and her husband at the DC Metro Cooking Show! She had boxes of her whoopie pies and cocktail bars stacked high the first day. The stacks kept getting smaller and smaller. WannaHavaCookie offers not only whoopie pies and cocktail bars but also cookies, favors, and seasonal flavors! Our Thoughts …

We were so excited to walk out of the DC Metro Cooking Show with these Whoopie Pies to review and the cocktail bars that Brian couldn’t not buy! I don’t know how both ended up in the trunk on the way home because we decided to not stop for lunch and we could have … no should have eaten some of the whoopie pies for lunch that day. They did all make it home in the box and we promptly hid them from the kids. Why would we share that goodness? We had the Apple Caramel Whoopie Pie, Pumpkin Whoopie Pie, and Red Velvet Whoopie Pie. The Red Velvet was my favorite for sure but the other varieties were really good too with pumpkin being my second favorite. Marissa changes up the flavors seasonally so you always have new options to discover when you head over to order off their website! The best part of the whoopie pies though was that you could tell they were freshly made and the packaging made it feel like such a gift. These would be a great gift for a teacher, a friend, or even for yourself!

Don’t you want this?! I know I want take Marissa’s advice and skip the healthy eating and go back for more whoopie pies from WannaHavaCookie!

Our Thoughts …

This is a unique review for us because we won the raffle for a cookie mix jar that The Mason Jar Cookie Company held at the DC Metro Cooking Show! I ordered a mix a day they told us that we won and called it Just for the Kids!

I loved the jar and well how pretty everything looked in the jar! It was super easy to make the mix but I did have to use a spoon to get everything out the jar. It was well packed in the jar. Matthew, who is three, helped me make these cookies. It was the perfect cookie job for him as it didn’t take me all night to measure ingredients!

Matthew loved “his” cookies so much that I missed a picture of the baked cookies! oops! I love the idea that you can order Party Favors from The Mason Jar Cookie Company. These would make perfect gifts for since they even have special Valentine’s Day blends!! Or you can just put in your favorite mix ins and give your jar a fun Valentine’s Name! Be Mine? I would certainly not say no to a cookie mix jar that said that! ;)

Oh if you are a gluten-free house … they even have a gluten-free mix base!! How great is that?!

We have had wonderful conversations about the animals and how they help families. We jump on any conversation around sharing so this has been an added source for that conversation. We are excited to share a gift of animals this Christmas season through a gift our family gives. We are still deciding between ducks, chickens, and rabbits as this honorary gift. A is for Ketchup

“A is for Ketchup” is a silly, picture book that takes advantage of the way children learn and optimizes their ability to quickly memorize the letters and sounds of the alphabet. Children are first given a humorous, incorrect example of each letter and then presented with a properly matching letter and object combination.

Our Thoughts …

Grace is our 1st grader that LOVES to read. When she saw this book, she giggled and laughed then exclaimed “A is NOT for ketchup!” This is one of Grace’s favorite books right now. She loves to read this book to Sophie (almost 5) and Matthew (3). I love to hear her read this book to them because it goes through all of the letters of the alphabet in a fun, silly way that keeps the younger kids attention. Plus not only is Grace practicing her reading but the other kids are having another lesson in their ABC’s. The last time that Brian volunteered in Grace’s class, she begged to take this book with her to school. Brian had the opportunity to read the book to her class that day in school which she couldn’t stop talking about all night.

Grace would definitely recommend this book for early readers! From the parent point of view, if you are working on ABC’s or just listening to stories at your house, this would be a great, unique book to add to your home library!

Our Thoughts …

The girls were beyond excited to see this arrive at our house! I set aside some time to work with them on this one Saturday morning. I knew Sophie (almost 5) would need help but Grace is 6 so I thought she could figure it out. I quickly realized the would both be helping pull the ribbon through and that the rest of the craft project making the barrettes was on me. They did enjoy the time sitting there talking with me and helping pull the ribbons through the barrette. They also LOVED picking out their ribbon colors and beads. Here is Sophie’s barrette in progress …

We made Sophie’s first and then she ran away but Grace sat patiently waiting and helping to make her barrette. Here are the girls wearing their barrettes.

They love them. This is a great craft idea for girls. I would set the expectation that you need to be able to help at least start the barrette. This would be a great gift idea for a little girl in your life for sure!

I love the non-scary version of the story that has a happy ending!
