Happy Father’s Day!

Father’s Day is here. Brian went from Active Duty Army to full time college student ready to take a professional job to a stay at home dad. I love that Brian gets to be here with the kids … at school with the kids … in the kitchen with the kids. He loves it too … most of the time. They are kids and there are three of them. They are loved though and he is loved too. Can’t you tell?

Brian with kids

Most recently Brian has also found joy behind the camera again. I snapped this picture before his trip to Florida. This is our life right now. He doesn’t spend hours getting the perfect picture, he just gets it. The kids are getting used to daddy’s camera taking pictures of them and their food. They still can’t figure out the food part but they love to say “Can I see?!” after EVERY.SINGLE.PICTURE. lolDaddy Blogger Taking Pictures

So yes, this is our life this Father’s Day. Thanks Brian (a.k.a., ThisCookinDad) for being a great daddy. We love you.

Happy Father’s Day to all of the fathers out there!

More March Snow in Virginia

We had more snow Sunday night into Monday. It is mostly gone now. You can still see it high up in the mountains which is beautiful. One day I will have the opportunity to get pictures of the views we see daily around here. Until then, you are stuck with views of our yard … which is still beautiful.

So this picture was sent to my mom to show her the snow was sticking the road … again. The farmer in his big ole John Deer tractor had plowed our street once that morning.

This picture was out back and I sent this one to my mom too. I asked her if I had moved to Ohio and hadn’t noticed.

March Snow in Virginia

We grew up going to Ohio every Christmas to visit family. As kids we LOVED to find snow in Ohio as we didn’t get that much snow here in Virginia.  Maybe you caught snow post one and snow post two here this month. Three snows that closed schools in March is a big deal around here. We often get snows in March but normally it is one … I think maybe winter is done now. Maybe?

I do have to say for the first time EVER I feel like the kids snow boots had some actual use in the winter time!

Are you enjoy the late Winter or are you ready for Spring? Leave me a vote and let me know!

Another March Snow for Virginia

We woke up on Monday to MORE snow! More … in March. We only had a few inches here at our house that morning and then it rained all day. So the kids did not play in the snow that day. I did snap a few pictures when I went out to thaw the car out to drive to work.

Here were my daffodils peaking out from the snow … they are happy now so I think they will make a nice bloom this spring!

I love our blue house in the snow. It was a huge debate a few years ago what color to paint our house. Our house was grey in color before so blue was change. We have the only blue house on the street but it does look so pretty in our country neighborhood.

I just saw a forecast for the weekend that said there maybe more snow in Virginia on Sunday. March snows aren’t odd here in Virginia but normally it is one March snow and we are done for the winter. I guess we will see if I have more snow pictures to post next week.

Are you ready for daffodils and spring or are you enjoying the last bit of winter? Leave us a comment and let us know.

Happy first day of Spring!

Wordless Wednesday: Sophie and my iPhone

Sophie was playing games on my phone the other night. I saw her … all was good. I sure did laugh when I found this and several other pictures of her on my phone though …

I love you ,my Sophie girl!

Hot Air Balloon Ride over Virginia

My sister took all of these pictures except for the last one that some stranger took and emailed to her when they landed. Her dear husband bought her a hot air balloon ride for her birthday … her dear husband that is scared of heights. She was so excited! I love the picture that shows the trees in full color here in Virginia.  The picture looking up at the balloon is a favorite too! If anyone is wondering, they did this ride with balloonsovervirginia.com. Which picture is your favorite?

Pumpkin Patch Visit 2012: Miller Farms Market

We took time earlier this month to visit our favorite pumpkin patch here in Central Virginia. We headed to Miller Farms Market in Orange, VA. It is a drive for us but they only charge you for your pumpkins. A lot places around here charge admission fees and even hayride fees. With a family of five, those fees add up so we hope to be spending our money at Millers Farms Market for years to come!

We got our carving pumpkins and my baking pumpkins here. Hopefully by mid-November I will find time to process my Long Island Cheese and Peanut pumpkins for Miller Farms Market. I can taste how yummy they are already! For now, here are pictures from our trip to the pumpkin patch …

This was one of my favorite pictures. My boys out in the middle of the HUGE pumpkin patch!

Did you get to visit a pumpkin patch this fall? Leave us a comment and let us know. Happy Halloween to your family from ours!

Fall Time: Playing in the Leaves

We only have one tree in our yard that has lots of pretty leaves (we wish we had more for sure!) The kids love it when Brian rakes up the leaves for them to jump and play in together. Here are some pictures of how playing in the leaves at our house goes …

Run …

and play …

The kids can’t have all of the fun …

Have you had fun in fall leaves yet? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Fall in Virginia

Fall is here! It became obvious last week that Fall arrived here in Virginia. I love the colors Fall brings us here in Virginia.

Taken at Miller Farms Market, Mine Run, VA

Taken in my garden … this mum is bigger than me. I need to re-home it to another spot in our yard besides my flower bed!
