Happy 5th Birthday, Sophie!

Today Sophie is 5. It is hard believe we have a 6 year old, 5 year old, and 3 year old in our house now! The year that Sophie was born, we had all cards written and waiting for a picture of her to be added. Presents were wrapped … I was worthless but Brian did the decorating and we had a special celebration of a Christmas with a newborn baby! This year, I am not ahead of the game but I am staying on track.

Thankfully, Sophie loves that her birthday is near Christmas. She wanted her picture this morning in front of the Christmas tree. She is the only one that gets to have the Christmas decorations up for her birthday after all.

In true Sophie fashion, she wore her snow boots to preschool today with her birthday shirt. I should add that it was 50 degrees outside when we left the house this morning. You gotta love that girl and her fashion … if only I could pull of snow boots just because they are pink and match!

Happy Birthday, Sophie!! We hope you have a very special day!

Feel free to leave her birthday wishes if you want. I read her the ones that you guys left on Facebook last night and she just beamed the biggest smile the whole time I was reading!!

Wordless Wednesday: 6th Birthday for Grace

Grace’s 6th Birthday was last Friday. She had a little family party the week before at my parent’s house where she picked a Hello Kitty theme.

Cake by Chamber’s Cakery!

We ordered her birthday cake from Sam’s Club so we get a full sheet cake to share at a church dinner. Plus I ordered her Hello Kitty cupcakes to take to school since they have a new “must be store bought” rule.

Grace is excited to be 6 … what will this year bring for our little 6 year old? Only time will tell …

Wordless Wednesday: Happy 3rd Birthday!

Matthew turned three while we were at the beach. As a result he had a cake at this party with family before we left and then he had a cake at the beach on his actual birthday!

Wordless Wednesday: Happy 4th Birthday, Sophie!

Our Sophie-bug turned 4 on Sunday. She had her party with family on Saturday. She picked Tinkerbell. At the last minute she decided to be Tinkerbell for her party and I found the old Halloween costume that didn’t get stashed away! The cake was a homemade, budget friendly version but she loved it!

Happy 4th Birthday, Sophie!!

Friday Favorite: Homemade Cupcakes

Friday Favorites is another almost weekly feature here at Simply Living on a Budget. The whole point of this feature is to share some of my favorite finds. Anything is game. Food. Cleaning supplies. Kid stuff. Garden favorites. Recipes. Anything that I really like and want to randomly post about. Everything in Friday Favorites is something that I use and bought on my own.

Up this week …

Homemade Cupcakes

Details …
1 cake mix + 1 tub of frosting + 2 packages of rings from the dollar store = birthday cupcakes!

My thoughts …
Tomorrow is my Sophie’s third birthday. She wanted ring cupcakes for preschool. Why? Because the other parents buy cupcakes from the grocery store that have little rings in them and bring them to preschool. These are like $6 for 10 cupcakes at Walmart. ummm, it doesn’t cost close to that for them (or me) to make those. I said no and I would make her some so the picture is of her cupcakes. Remember the preschool is in our basement so no stupid rules like only store bought food.
